Help! Spec me a London Restaurant

Its my birthday on Saturday and I've left things a little last minute. I wanted to go to Hawksmoor, but I knew they would most likely be fully booked....and they were.
Theres 8 of us going and I'm looking for somewhere reasonably central that serves awesome steaks. Any other suggestions welcome :)
 
Have you looked at the other Hawksmoor open on Saturday?

Could also try Goodman (good luck!) or The Palm near Sloane Square.
 
I tried all 3, Guildhall is closed on weekends (according to the lady on the phone) and the other 2 are booked up.
 
I just checked, and I could be wrong, but The Palm would take your table of 8 on Saturday (yes, I'm that bored). I've never been but I understand it's where the London-based Americans go for their steak fix. I've had to arrange tables for high-life American clients here. Apparently it's very good.
 
I'm feeling quite smug because I have a table for 8 at Goodman on Saturday :D

How much will you pay me for it?

EDIT: There was nothing seemingly available, so I used the AmEx concierge and they found me a res - try them if you have one

Damn you.

I have an Amex card but have never used the concierge service.

I booked a table at The Palm. Looks quite good and reasonably diverse for a couple of my friends.
