Hello everyone,

I have a budget of £1200-£1300 ex vat to spend on a new machine (not including monitor, mouse, keyboard)

I am not interested in overclocking and want the system to run quiet whilst on air. I hope to run a silent geforce 8800 gtx and will probably never go sli.

I am not sure which motherboard to go for. I have been looking at the p5b deluxe and the p5w dh deluxe. Which of these boards are better to go for? Or would it make more sense for me to go with one of the new nvidia based boards? I have also heard great things about the gigabyte ds3 board but will this board be able to handle a 16x 8800? And would I not be better for going with something a bit more expensive? In the past I have used asus boards exclusively.

Thank you for your time.

It will have no problem running it

Under £1400 I think, could add a CPU cooler, or even buy the 650i motherboard.

Only reason I added the EVGA was because he said he wanted silent and yes you're probably right about Vista Premium being the better option.

IMO that mobo is ludicrously pricey. Get a DS4 or something and put the extra towards Vista Home Premium, running Basic on a rig that decent is a waste.
