Hello, I was going to get a laptop but then got talked round because they are a lot of money for what you are getting. So I have decided to build a new computer and stick with that.

I roughly have around £700 to spend and will be buying it around christmas time.

I want something with good performance, I play games now and then so want something decent so I can play at max settings, also something that will last me a few years. I don't need Keyboard, Mouse, OS

Thanks

Well I knocked this up, but at that res if you have no plans to up it any time soon you could drop the gfx card back to something like a 768mb 460 with little to no impact on performance and pocket a hundred quid

Thank you for that :)

I might drop the gfx card to a slightly cheaper one,

And would that case be able to keep everything cool?

AMD option

i included 5x120mm because you seemed worried about cooling :D

i know people will say to save the money on the fans and buy a better case but will that case have 6x120mm fans?? :D

a hd5870 will take you over £700 BUT since the 6xxx series are coming out next week(low-end apparently), this should bring some of the prices down, and iirc the high end 6xxx are coming out on november. wait and see what the new 6xxx series are like.

I've also been looking into the idea of getting a laptop instead so I can move it about and take it places and I'm not confined to 1 room.

I know they are not as good but anyone seen any decent ones around?

are you looking for a laptop AND a pc or just the laptop for everything else?
if laptop is for everuthing else you could look at msi's range of laptops

I was getting a spec for both then I can choose which I prefer, If I was to go down the laptop route it would be JUST a laptop or if I went down the desktop route it would be JUST a desktop.

Havent seen many laptops that are good which can handle gaming etc.

I think I'm going to go with a Desktop as I can get a higher quality and spec for the same price as getting a half decent laptop.

(Sorry for triple post :/)
