Time to finally upgrade my Core2 Quad system that's bottlenecked my GTX 570 since the day I got it :(

I haven't looked into upgrades properly for a few CPU generations, I want a processor that won't bottleneck any GPUs for the foreseeable future, gaming is the priority. These are the parts I need:-

CPU
M-ATX Mobo with SATA III & PCI port
RAM
120GB SSD
External DVD drive
Bitfenix Phenom case

Ideally I'd like to push this below 400 so long as it'd still be relatively future-proof. I won't budge on the case :p

Cheers!

Cheers for that, I don't need a PSU though and the case doesn't have a space for an internal drive. To get this down near £400, what are the cheaper non-overlockable Haswell chips like with a cheaper B chipset mobo? From what I've read it'd be better to go AMD and overlock but there aren't any decent Sata 3 M-ATX motherboards about that I can find

You can save another £16 by going for the 4430..

Thats the problem with AMD.. They have no serious mATX boards, hugely missing out.

I thought maybe it was a stock issue but looked elsewhere and they really have nothing, surprising as Intel are all over that market.

I managed to shave a little off the motherboard as well, would I be likely to run into any performance/bottlenecking issues with this setup? (I don't know how to paste it as text :()

Go with the RAM is idles spec.

It is cheaper, the same rating (not that it matters as it will only run 1600mhz anyway) and low profile..

The Xtreem RAM is high profile which means it can interfere with some air cooler, well worth going low profile to avoid this.

Will it only run at that speed due to the motherboard chipset? I picked those because they'd match the rest of the build... I know the case is windowless but I'm slightly anal with how my innards look and probably won't bother adding an aftermarket cooler as I won't be overlocking.

Yeah, its defined by the motherboard chipset.

Fair enough... Just thought i should let you know. :)
