I've had the bulk of my current system for over 2 years now and am feeling the upgrade bug bite, I could wait for newer cheaper things but then this could wind up being an endless cycle and I think i've done quite well to wait 2 years since my last upgrade :)

This is my current system:

C2D e6600 running at stock
Gigabyte-965p-DS4 motherboard
GeIL 4GB (4x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 (GX22GB6400UDC)
XFX GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (PVT80FSHF9)
2 x Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103UJ)
Seasonic 600W PSU

I have a Coolermaster Cosmos case, monitor, keyboard, mouse etc already.

My budget: I wouldn't like to spend more than £1000-£1500, and i'd expect the upgrade to last me another couple of years!

As a base I was thinking of building the machine around the following CPU, unless the old quad core Core 2's are better still?

Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366) - OEM

Overclocking isn't really my highest priority in a system, i'd prefer a quieter rig that still performed well but wouldn't balk to putting in a small overclock if the hardware supports it (dunno what was wrong with my last chip, it wouldn't overclock at all!)

I'd like to get a dedicated drive for my O/S and was thinking about using 2 x Velociraptors in raid 0.

I will go find my own spec in a moment and see what people think.

Almost forgot, I have a copy of Windows Vista already.

Cheers :)

I'm wondering if this board may be better though?

Couple more questions:

Will my Seasonic 600W be able to keep up with this lot or will I need a new PSU?
Do you need any special kit to Raid 0 hard drives?

Ok will go for the other one then, spending so much a little more won't make a huge difference anyway :P

I have added this CPU cooler to the order too:

Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366)

Anyone see anything that needs adjusting before I smash the "place order" button? :D
