Looking to move up from my old trusty E8400/4870 setup to something fresh and new, please critisize this and let me know if you think i should change anything as i haven't been keeping up to date with things like motherboards and SSD drives:

EDIT something i mention in post below:
my main concern is the ram and heatsink+fan i've chosen, i've never used patriot at work or at home so it's a grey area for me, any comments on those?

I can't say i NEED it but it's nice to have the headroom while i can afford to put it there

As for xfire, i'd prefer to have the option of moving to 2x5870s in the future, i'm quite into games and love to play them at the best settings my computer can cope with be it on current games or games that aren't out yet, i do upgrade graphics cards more frequently than any other component i think too so i doubt i would downgrade the graphics card on there

Looks good, What hdd do you already have? as you have only specced a ssd. I agree with superewza, why do you need 8gb ram, Heavy photoshop??
Good Luck with your build :)

I currently have a variation of HDDs including:
2xWDRE2 160s
1xWD black 640gb
1xMaxtor 300gb

With storage for different things spread over them, fancy an SSD as i've heard so much good about them being "the best upgrade you can do to a computer", again though, no real reason for 8gb apart from putting it there while i have the money too

It's really not worth the extra £80, especially since it's likely you won't need it, and if you do it's always open as an option.

Patriot are one of the best memory manufacturers out there...

Have you looked at ASRock P55 motherboards? They're a lot cheaper than the competition and are no worse performers.

It's alright, but not really the best:

Better: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-000-TQ&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395

Best: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-010-AL&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395

Just my personal choices though...

I'll weigh up my choices on the memory, i still like the idea of having it there even if it wasn't being fully utilised but at the same time i guess £80 is more than it looks when it's all added up together

Cheers for the heatsink recommendations, i think i'll go for the sunbeam one, does it definately support skt1156 though? it only says up to 775 on there
