hi - I'm looking at building a new PC specifically for business use. I have no intention of overclocking it or playing games on it.

My current machine which I built about 5 years ago (AMD2400(?) and Gigabyte 7VAXP Ultra MOBO) is just about ready to become my standby machine.

I need a spec for a machine that is fast when running multiple processes like Adobe Photoshop, Bridge and Acrobat, FTP, HTML editor, multiple browsers etc.

It also needs to be reliable and have some level of futureproofing and upgradability.

It needs to be able to support 2 LCD monitors which I already have, an eSata external hard drive which I already have and multiple USB devices. I would also like the spec to include at least 2 USB ports on the front of the case.

I believe that I would need about 750Gb of hard drive - mirrored of course.

I would also need a multi format DVD Re-writer (but not blu-ray at this moment).

I think I need a decent amount of memory - 4Gb?

I would like to run Vista as the operating system - not sure which version I would need though.

Money is no objective but I am not looking at paying a premium to have the latest and greatest blingy device.

I have spent hours reading reviews and ended up drowning in the choices available so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for that Will - I will review your recommendations tonight.

One further question - what additional cables would I require? All my existing cables are the old flat type ribbon cables.

Sorry for calling you Wil - lol...

Only just realised it is a quote and not your name - that happens when you scan instead of reading properly.

Thanks for your help.
