Help speccing budget gamer system

cheating? hardly, the fps is capped at 250 in competative play because it enables you to get places YOU REALLY SHOULDNT

As i said, certain map choke points are dependant on fps, with 125 you jump higher therefore making a critical 1v1 situation extremely depend on it

Aim is also a lot more accurate and recoil less with constant/more fps

I play cod4 competatively i;v been to lans and won cash both times, i know from testing better computers at LAN's and using my own, theres a very big difference

It was even my team who reccomended me to get a better computer because they seen the difference first hand aswell
 
just to clear things up you do realise that 125fps will gove you absolutely no advantage over 60 fps? your screen can only refres 60 times a second, i get 60 constant with vsync on so i get no tearing, also you will need to edit your config to get that amount of fps (capped at 90)
howveer if you do want an advantage bring up the console and type /cg_fov 80

that lag is not actually lag. its because your 17" TFT monitor cant refresh quick enough...
 
my 17inch is 8ms which should be quick enough in response time, running at 75hzz

Either way i also need to get 125 constant atleast, then if i still see what i;m describing then i'm going to upgrade my monitor.

So i hope its only going to be the pc ;)

I also meant lag at LOWER fps not the 125
 
i'm already using fov 80 - like i said i appreciate what you guys are saying but after testing first hand all different combinations i know what i want, i have actually used a different pc at 125 and used my own, i have tried playing vsync on and at 60fps

I have also tried playing at 76fps capped so i dont get drops and i still get a little bit of a jump advantage, however its not enough

sorry for being a noob - but I don't see why FPS would enable you to jump higher in a game or getting less recoil? or do you mean something else by jumping. I assume hopping like a frog.

PS if that is true then I lower my resolution and can play TF2 with a pyro and reach places a demo can :)
 
its something to do with the game engine, its pretty ridiculous that people resort to these really minor tweaks to get a tiny advantage, how well you play it down to you not down to the the game
 
its mainly to do with the quake engine, at key fps such ast 125/250/333 the game allows you to jump higher

I'm not resorting to these to get a tiny advantage, its more over the fact i currently get drops to 30fps therefore its essential i get a new system, and it would be stupid not to go for something thats going to give me an advantage!

I know its how well you play the game but then you are also limited by your hardware, like i said i tested the difference and its quite big, it wasnt even me who said get a better pc it was my manager/team

Anyway were going off topic a tad.
Considering we won £230 each last even for coming 4th with a mixer i really think that this kind of cash can justify an advantage like described above
 
I think it's gay to be like that. I don't even change the gamma settings and don't exploit game glitches. I play for fun and would rather know that I beat someone fair and square than by cheating, because at the end of the day that is exactly what it is.

I am surprised that these LAN competitions do not cap the FPS if this is the case.

PS now I feel like a jerk for even answering this post and help a cheater :(
 
i understand im not going to change your mind im just saying there are far more variables that can foul your play than fps ;)
 
guys, its hardly cheating, its accepted, hence why there are locks on certain values such as 333.

I didnt make these rules, there generally accepted, so why should i be at a disavantage because im using a bad PC?

I dont play for fun tho, thats the difference, obviously it is fun. I play for the competition, PAM its a mod, disabled smoke/fog/ambient noises so the game becomes more reaction based and sound based making it more competative

They must be doing something right with multiple events with total prize pots of £15000 upwards
 
Off topic, reason I like PAM mod is it removes crappy upgrades and those noob heli/air strikes. but that's just IMO since I am a die hard R6 fan (of course I am talking about the real R6 from Red Storm not the Lockdown/Vegas crap)
 
that exactly what i'm saying though lunar, thats the mod i use with the ruleset changed to the competition be it cb codqcup enemydown iseries insidae crossfire etc

My friend said get zalman aero flower over an arctic cooler, he says its a lot better cooling and quieter, is this correct?
 
I have a Zalman 9500, but my choice was reduced by case/motherboard size restrictions, the Zalman fits by 2mm with case. My first choices would have been Scythe or Tuniq Tower but they just wouldn't fit.
