Hi,
I'm new to the forum and would really appreciate some help spec'ing an HTPC.

I'm looking to build a low-power system containing a dual tuner Freeview HD card (probably a Blackgold card), that will support 1080 P, ideally with an HDMI socket. Wi-fi isn't needed. I was thnking of running either Windows Media Server or Myth, opinions over either/both greatly appreciated.
I'd apprciate a compact and quiet system preferably in a media case.

I was also potentially looking to get a Synogy RAID'ed NAS to act as my even lower power NAS come torrent device. Do you think it's worth having seperate devices or combining the NAS and torrent onto the HTPC? What sort of power consumption can i expect from an HTPC hat does the above inc. being a NAS?

Many thanks for reading, any advice and help navigating the wide range of components and options would be GREATLY appreciated.

ok from readin the above it sounds like you want a htpc and either a media server or a NAS as a media storage / torrent area?

I'd keep the 2 seperate personally.
I also think that NAS enclosurers are very overpriced. Especially when you start collecting Blu Ray sized media files.

What i would do is have a small htpc with a tuner card running XBMC with MythTV.
That can record and view tv.
Then have a low powered pc running Windows Home Server (WHS) or similar to hold your media files and to run your torrent program. You'd connect the 2 via your network, and xbmc can stream your films/tvshows from the server.

That sound almost right or have I taken it a step to far?
