Help! Speedfan and BIOS not a fan of my after market CPU cooler

Hi guys,

So I have an Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro as my CPU cooler. The problem is most of the time I boot up I get 'CPU Fan Error' even though the fan is definitely still running.
Also Speedfan only detects my GPU fan and not my CPU fan. I can confirm everything is plugged in correctly and the CPU fan spins fine.

I have an ASUS Z87-K motherboard with an i5 4670k. I have not overclocked it yet but that's not to say that I won't in the future.

To avoid getting the message on startup I have disabled Q-Fan (ASUS' mobo fan speed control) and it runs fine even when gaming/ being stress tested.

My question is, should I be worried? Or should I just assume that everything is fine?

Have you plugged the CPU fan into the CPU_HEADER on the motherboard?
If not then it will most likely flag this up.

I have indeed plugged it in correctly. First place I checked.

Weird, I don't know about the board itself so not sure if it's a common problem or not.

Do you need to be worried? - No, if the fan is working properly then no need to be worried.

Fair enough I guess.

Hoping it's just a reporting problem. The post here was more to see if anyone else had experienced any similar problems.

Its just because your aftermarket cooler's fan runs slower and speeds up slower on startup hence why it panics thinking the fan is not working. There is an option in the bios to disable the low fan speed warning for this very reason. I can't remember where exactly it is but I assume its under the fan control section of the bios.

I disabled it in the end yeah. This is what I was thinking but then why can't Speedfan detect it?
