Hi all,

It's panic time for me - just turned my computer on and received 21 error popups saying:

System Message - Write Fault Error

A write command during the test has failed to complete this may be due to a media or read/write error the system generates an exception error when using a reference to an invalid system memory address.

After about 20 seconds all the boxes dissapear and MS Security Essentials pops up saying is found something it doesn't recognise:

c:\ProgramData\ucQlpyNtnuJXT

and asks if i wasnt to send it to microsoft for analysis.

ALL the start menu items have dissapeared and all that remains are Internet Explorer, Notepad and SQL Management Studio.

Please help!

I've ran dir in command prompt and it says:
Volume C has no label
Volume serial number is xxxxx

Better than those who don't post the fix! Glad you sorted it, although it would be good if you could find the root cause of infection.

What a filthy virus - it hides all your files, all start menu items and prevents write access to your windows drive.

At first, I confused the fake Smart HDD app with SSD Life which I have legitimately installed but I smelt a rat straight away with the error messages.

If the HDD was in a bad way, it wouldn't have booted to windows!
