I was out taking some pictures in the snow the other day with the idea of stitching them together to make a nice panoramic shot. I just took the shot by hand and try to keep my hand steady and make sure the shots overlapped. But when using Hugin (on a mac) I just couldn't get it to output the stitch so it looked good.

The images I was trying to stitch are here:

Can anyone help or give me some advice?

Thanks.

This one i've just stitched together so you can do your own processing.

This one I had a quick play with.

When shooting pano's its a good idea to hold the camera in portrait and over lap each shot by as much as 50% this gives your stitching programe more to work with and you can get better crop compositions.

You can see how much height you've lost after the crop as well as some of the tree.

Some people suggest using a tripod for pano's but i've always done them hand held, as long as you take it steady and overlap by a good amount and shoot portrait they should come out fine

Pic 8 is considerably smaller than the others. Is it supposed to be like that or have you got the large file to upload?

there is a good free to download program from microsoft called image compostion editer ( ICE ) i find it works well at stiching handheld panos :)

Thanks a lot guys I'll try taking the shots in portrait mode next time and see how I get on. What software did you use to get the results in the end?

oops just re read and noticed you use a mac so ms ICE no use. The other program ive used is photoshop .CS2 not so good for pano merging but CS5 works well .
