I get this error when trying to connect to my storage drive

"D:\ is not accessible
the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable"

is there any way of getting back into the drive ? ive tyred CHKDSK but it just says there are "one or more unrecoverable errors" and refuses to check it.

im probably going to have to use some sort of data recovery program to get my stuff back.

i dont mind paying, any suggestions ?

ps i know it should have been backed up, but some of the stuff was too big to fit on any DVD

HIGHLY recommend File Scavenger 3.0

recovered stuff from a broken raid 5 array for me in the past!

Once you've got your data back , I use recover my files on drives & media cards and bad copy for CD's , you should back up to disk . NEVER rely on a hard drive as a back up medium.Seen people lose all there data on 200 gig drives , after years of downloads and it all goes down the pan.Has happended to me once or twice ,years ago .Now every download goes into a folder ..........aptly named ...Downloads, it's scanned often for virus's and when I've got 650/700 meg of stuff , its wrote to disk.Yes , I might have about fifty/sixty CD's in a zipper case , BUT , I never lose a thing .And again , dont rely on a DVD disk for backups , some of the cheaper brands can deteriate and after a year or 2 and the data might be lost.I use plain CD's and can go back to 5 or 6 years of data. Hope this helps.

more cost/speed effective to use 2x large hard drives for backup

i've got 2x 250gb drives, data data is on both (and my original copy, so 3 copies) for not so important things, have 2 copies

nothing like an automated or drag and drop backup tbh

did you try
chkdsk /p
will/should correct any errors at same time as check
or
fixboot
you using the repair console?
:)
