HELP, Strange things happening when in game?

Hi guys, not sure if this is the correct forum for this but here goies
i have a CTX 19"flat Crt monitor, and for some strange reason whenever i change my resolution when playing cs 1.6 to 800x600 the whole screen shape goes nuts all the boxes start to become curved and the screen isn't centre etc etc, so i have to manually change all the settings to get it so the edges are straight and the screen is centred, yet when i play in 640x480 and 1024x768 it's fine? then i exit cs and come back to windows the screen is fine but i can now move my windows outside of the screen

Someone help me as this is driving me nuts!

sounds like the monitor is whinging when you change its resolution. time to get a TFT me thinks

yeah maybe so but strangely it's really only been since i switched from my x850xt to a nvidia card, could this be the problem? i can't understand why it likes 1024x768 and 640x480 but 800x600 it doesn't want to know about, can you think of anything else it could be?

you have a 7800GTX...why should 800x600 matter? lol

because in counterstrike 1.6 i prefer playing in 800x600 mode as it feels more comfortable, cs 1.6 isn't about having beautiful textures it's all about registration and aim
