Hi,

After building my new rig one of the pumps became unplugged, unfortunately this was the pump to the cpu, anyways a lot of people are saying that the cpu has good power and heat management and it shouldnt of fried so wondering if this problem is something unrelated to that, here are my specs:

EVGA X58 Classified 760
i7 920 D0
TR3X6G1866C7GTF
ATI 4890
X-FI Titanium Fatality Pro
Corsair 1000HX

Now when i boot up it goes something like this on the post display.

F1
F3
68
C1
Then restarts

any ideas on if this is related to a possible fried cpu?
Im sure i had a similair problem with this graphics card before so swapped it out for an old 8800GTS but still the same problem.

When i first fired the machine up it did it a few times but finally booted and got half way through a win 7 install but came back from a smoke and the machine was looping through thos codes.

Any ideas?

Np ;) , sounds obvious but have you double checked that nothing has come loose etc. If not take the ram out and just leave one stick in, then swap that around the modules and do other checks similar, take out gpu and try onboard vga (if your mobo has this)

the code 68 says reserved in the manual, but after a bit of googling this points towards the memory so will try booting with one stick in to see if that helps.

And would the excessive heat on the cpu cause any damage or should it be fine?

ok so should it completely shut off as it was if it was stuck in a loop doing the above sequence on the poster.

Yeah im going to run the working stick in all slots to make sure its not a faulty slot then run each stick individually to try and figure out if one is faulty.

Also as the CPU got very hot do you think its possible the CPU's memory controller has been damaged as it did boot up with all 3 sticks in to begin with?
