Help the idiot - I can't think of what to try next

I have an AMD 3600 on a ROG Strix 570i originally running win 10 which has stopped booting to OS.

It has been working fine for some time, the BIOS was updated 3 weeks ago and I've used it daily since.
The TSM security is off, it's not clocked and all the components are visible in settings, and the drive can be checked in the BIOS/EFI menu.

I have tried CSM on and off, USB with Ubuntu - gets to the initial menu to install or boot from stick and then fails to boot the OS.
I have tried windows form a USB stick that I have checked works on another machine and it does what happens in the video.
I have forced boot from F8 and from within the BIOS, it's definitely trying the USBs.

I can't thing of what else to try and I can't think of what's caused this.
Any helpful advice very gratefully received.
 
Have you had any issues with the PC in the last few weeks, e.g. stuff failing to load, taking longer than expected, files that were corrupt after downloading?
 
Might be worth trying a new CMOS battery and default reset on the bios....but I'm thinking something might have failed...

Maybe try a live linux distro which can boot from usb or something. If you can get into that you can then see if everything is there type of thing, copy any files you might want to keep (assuming they're there).

My head says it's the motherboard that might have failed if anything but it's a bit hard to tell without being 'hands on'.
 
After you updated your bios, did you reset all settings in the bios? ( you should )

As I understand it, an installed windows checks for the devices it knew it had last time, and does a quick check for anything new., which it’ll catch drivers for once booted.

When windows boots fresh to install, it’ll look for and poll all devices on the machine. Your new bios may have copied over settings into the new bios, which isn’t compatible with That full scan.

(Ah - beaten to the reset bios comment )
 
Not that I've noticed, no.
I use it for work 4 days a week and everything I used worked.

The reason I asked is that failing ssds can corrupt boot stuff on the drive. I think there are things (commands) you can run to repair it.

Today I opened up the case, checked the fans, checked the seating, reset the CMOS and tried again.
It booted to BIOS screen, asked for F1 to begin and went to EFI/Bootmenu. All fans correctly spinning. All components correctly recognised. F5 defaults applied, saved and exit to reboot.
It went around the exact same cycle as before with "Preparing Automatic Repair" and started again.
I interrupted it and made it boot from the USB Ubuntu drive, just to get any OS to boot - it took me to the menu to select Try or install, then went back round and around.
So no real progress.

If it was the TSM/security thing how would that behave, would it do this?
I'm sure I had it turned off, but if I hadn't what would I see?

It reads like the bios and cpu are not liking each other in terms of fTPM security. Its only ever something I've enabled and forgotten about on my machine, but can you delete ( not just disable in case there is something being stored incorrected ) all the remembered ftpm settings in a bios to reset it ?

Yeah I'm seeing tpm and microcode so it's likely linked to the cpu in some way... no real idea how to fix it because I turned my ftpm off.

It might be as simple as a corrupted bios so maybe see if you can install a new bios again.

If ftpm is on, it might be stopping you getting into linux for 'security reasons'... so check to see if it's turned off for linux.

The situation has moved on substantially and I hate an unresolved thread, so I'll update and post when it's resolved.
Essentially I have now stripped down the board, reset the CMOS by removing the battery, and rebuilt.
The TPM errors were resolved but the hardware errors have not changed.
I have rolled the BIOS back 2 versions just in case, to no effect.

I have now had a really useful conversation with Overclockers and they are exchanging the CPU for me, as it's just about within warranty.
