Hey well i will be going to Egypt soon and i have come to the conclusion that i want a good camera to take with me to remember the experience and to take on future holidays and to play around with at home :)

I don't really have any experience with cameras so have no idea what im looking for really. The only camera's i have used really is the bog standard ones. So i was hoping you could recommend me something. Money wise somewhere up to £600-800 for it. Want something that is going to last me that i can have a play with.

Any ideas:confused:

Thanks :)

These are my top picks (UK reputable prices, not HK which may be cheaper but have warranty & tax issues) :

Nikon D5100 + 18-105mm VR Lens £525.00
Nikon D7000 + 18-105mm VR Lens Kit £844.00

They both share the same excellent sensor which is about the best sensor you can get in a crop DSLR. The D7000 has a few extra features and better auto focus, up to you whether you want that. The 18-105 is a very handy and very sharp lens.

The Sony Alpha A57 SLT + 18-135mm lens for £789.00 might also be worth a look. Doesn't seem so many Sony bodies around, they used o have stacks of bodies.

The other thing to consider is size. You might want to consider mirrrorless cameras like a Nikon 1, Olympus/Panasonic M43s or Sony Nex camera. They all have pros and cons, nikon 1 is smallest and has best Auto focus by a long shot, The m43rds cameras have by far the best lens line up, Sony NEX has the best sensor (it is the same as in their DSLRs), but the large sensor tends to require large lenses, especially at the telephoto end.

These cameras are a middle ground, you get more versatility by owning both a competent DSLR + a pocket camera IMO.

anyway, you get great photos from any modern DSLR and mirrrorless cameras, whtehr it is Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sony, etc.

Sony Nex 7 or Fuji X-E1.

Don't bother with a DSLR and get a mirrorless. Get a easy to use camera that packs a MASSIVE punch. Don't let the camera get in the way of your experience.
