Ok I have a small problem. Had to format my parents pc today and it all went ok but I have since discovered a problem in that I have no sound and in device manager I have a yellow symbol indicating a problem.

So I have no idea what hardware is in this pc so can anybody tell me how to identify which sound card is in the pc? I think all I need is to download the relevent driver but thats hard to do without knowing the soundcard I am updating. :(

If the pc is a name brand, search the brand site for model number and specifications,it should tell you there and have all the drivers you need for it.
I`m thinking its likely to be an onboard sound chip like realtek and xp doesn`t install them for you,as it would a soundblaster compatible one.
If its a pci card, have a squint with the side off pc and look for a model number on it,or remove it to have a good look.
