Hi

I want to make my PC dual boot XP and vista. At the moment I have on 750GB HDD with 3 partitions on it running XP home. I am thinking its better to have another HDD and load vista on it but I do not know any proceure to do that.
Also How I would get PC to boot into XP first unless I tell it not too and select vista. I want vista just for FSX so I can had 4G RAM instead of my present 2 which is not enough.

Hi mate,

set up your partitions, using another disk is fine as this is basically the same as using a partition.

Install XP and set up as you need.

Stick Vista disk in and during install choose the other disk (or partition), let it install.

Then, once installed use BCDedit in vista to enable the boot loader for both OS's.

Last thing to do is to jump into MSCONFIG (in Vista) and choose the BOOT tab. Choose the XP option and set as default. This will mean when you turn the PC on, both OS are listed as options but if no buttons are pressed, XP will boot.

Do some searches by me for windows server 2008 and vista for the bcdedit procedure.
