Hi all,

I am in need of some upgrades on an ageing machine and could do with some help.

I have at the moment:
Phenom II 565, Asus board and 8GB DDR3
GTX 970 4GB
EVGA SuperNova 650W GS gold
SSDs and storage disks
CM 690 II Advanced case
Dell u2412mb Monitor

I think the Monitor, GPU, case and PSU all have life left in them and I'm looking at a budget of around £450 for a CPU, Motherboard and RAM combo.

I have done some research (as it has been a while) and was thinking about pairing the Ryzen 5 2600 with an Asus x470 CH7 which comes in at £400 (i live a few streets down from OCUK so no delivery charge!)

to keep costs down I was looking at making some savings on RAM and going for the Vulcan t-force 2x4GB 3000mhz set which will put me £20 over budget. I'd then think about changing out the RAM (or adding to the current RAM) sometime next year.

Is my plan sound and will it all fit together ok, or do you think I'd be better off going for a lower cost board and spending more on CPU or RAM right now?

The machine is used for Gaming (at the moment Overwatch, Diablo 3 and Civ 6) and I also do a considerable amount of image editing in Photoshop and light room.
