Just passing a message on (hopefully it's not considered spam) but Plymouth Argyle are in serious danger of folding this season.

When my team (Brighton) were in danger it was a fan of Plymouth Argyle who suggested a 'Fans United' day whereupon fans of all clubs showed up in their colours to a certain Brighton home game in order to show solidarity with the fans, it was a big success and luckily Brighton now have something to shout about.

Plymouth are now in danger it's only correct that we stand beside their fans in their time of need so a fans re-united game is on the cards!

Get yourself down to Plymouth if you can regardless of club for their home game on the 24th September - More can be read on Facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=246878512021661&pending )

I don't quite know what happened with Argyle to be honest, they've been middling along in the lower divisions, had some success under Holloway although he then took all the good players away (:p), and then all of a sudden it started going rapidly downhill - as I understand it they got royally screwed over by their previous management gambling everything on the World Cup coming to England and them getting funds as a WC venue and as soon as that went away the owners decided to pull the plug completely :-/

Really don't get how things got so bad in what seemed to be a fairly well run club :(

^^ They got sold to a clueless japanese business man under the "prem dream" about 5 years ago. Originally they made a success in the champ as a financially sound business, then someone got control of it, sold it to the business guy who made debts for the club to try and make it in the big league (which for a team with such low average attendances and small catchment area is foolish). So when it didn't instantly happen, money dried up and they got into further debt. Since then they have crashed down the leagues and have been so hampered with debt they pretty much can't recover unless someone actually buys the club out properly :(

Its sad as its actual football heritage going through greed of a few people who know how to abuse the football world. Peter Reid needs a big congratulations too as most managers would have jumped ship in the way it was going for them last season and instead he paid some of the clubs bills to keep it running last christmas when they got a winding up petition then. He's still there trying to work with an u18's team in l2 as well.

The administrator is useless as well, he agrees exclusivity with a buyer (Heaney) who then fails to secure funding deadline after deadline, but at no point does the administrator talk to other interested parties. Now 6 months down the line and with the players owed a few million, he's starting to talk to others (I think), but they'd be expected to pay for all the accumulated debt thats built up in the meanwhile. Also Heaney is owner of Truro so shouldnt be in control/influence over two clubs, so the football league are reluctant to give them their 'golden share' (FL place) until they know who owns it. The buyers want the FL share assured until they stump up cash (or so they say). It's all a bit of a mess..

Isn't this Ridsdales doing yet again? Is that 3 or 4 clubs he's pretty much driven into the ground now?

Yes I am a bitter Leeds fan

Plymouth were so good to Newcastle when we won the Championship, whilst at the same time relegating them at there own ground. Hope they pick themselves up again, always have a soft spot for them after the way they were

Have a soft spot for Plymouth. If it wasn't so far I would go down there.

All the best to the club and the fans. Really hope they can turn it around!

Lol

Risdale needs to jeep out of football.

Club with no money, no real team yet a good manager agrees to help out so you sack him

That's the Toon standard of self destruction and relationship destruction with the world in general.

Why do clubs keep letting Peter Ridsdale take over their club? It's a bit like needing a baby sitter and giving Gary Glitter a call!

Hardly like he has a track record of sucess is it? Ran Leeds into debt, Barnsley into debt, Cardiff into debt, now Plymouth.
