I wonder if anyone could help me here. Good old pub arguement between friends and i want to know if anyone here could settle it. Who makes more money Ikea or Rolls Royce?

Thanks

I have absolutley no proof of this but if it's not Ikea I'll eat my hat, record myself doing it and upload it to my new site ;).

I dunno, Rolls Royce make loads of engines and things for other applications not just their cars.

and they clearly have a huge profit margin, something i doubt ikea have on everything.

Which Rolls-Royce? R-R plc, the aircraft manufacturer? Or R-R Motors, the car manufacturer? ;)

Are they not all one company?

See i say Ikea as i work for them but my friend says Rolls as he works for them. He was telling me about 60 billion deals they have and so on.

Couple of Googles gives:

The Swedish company, renowned for its huge superstores and flat-pack furniture, benefited from a store investment programme, extended opening hours and good market conditions as sales rose by 15% to just over £1bn (€1.45bn).

Rolls-Royce posted a 2005 operating profit of £679 million ($1.18 billion).

So $1.82bn to $1.18bn, Ikea takes it.

Isn't the owner of Ikea one of the richest men in Europe? If not THE richest?

I'd say Ikea by a large margin.

Apparently, Ingvar Kamprad (owner of Ikea) is arguably the richest person in the world.

Is that not comparing sales to profit though
