A friend has asked for help to build a gaming PC for her son. Budget is £350 max. I've managed to get in under budget using the AMD APU chips but I don't know what they are like.

AMD A10-5800K Black Edition 3.80GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity Quad Core Processor (AD580KWOHJBOX) £79.99

Asus A88XM-PLUS AMD A88X (Socket FM2+) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £56.99

TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TPKD38G1600HC11DC01) £53.99

Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD £39.95

EVGA 500W 80 Plus Power Supply (100-W1-0500-KR) £39.95

Cooler Master Elite 344 Micro ATX Case - Black/Blue £32.99

LG GH24NSB0 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £13.99

Total : £331.94

Any obvious mistakes in the above? Mildly concerned that expectation will be greater than ability with the budget constraints.

Intel Pentium K Anniversary G3258 Socket LGA1150 Processor - £49.99

Asus H81I-Plus Intel H81 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard - £58.99

Powercolor Radeon R9 270 TurboDUO 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - £109.99

GeIL Black Dragon 4GB (1x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Single Module - £32.99

Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD £39.95

Cooler Master Elite 344 Micro ATX Case - Black/Blue £32.99

Corsair Builder Series CX 430W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply - £34.99

LG GH24NSB0 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £13.99

Total = £373.88

Tell her to get the second stick of 4gb ram another time ;)

A little over but it's a lot better than your spec.

Isn't the graphics card a bit outdated in the above spec? Would the extra RAM and increased access speeds of the SSD make up for it?

Would love to bench the two specs side by side to see how they perform.

Thank you!

2 x 6 pins are required for a 270. That Corsair PSU only has one.
