Hello,

I recently had an issue with the Ryzen Master software so ran an AMD utility checker to reinstall all non essential drivers. That took me into safe mode for Win 10.

I have a login screen but my usual 4 digit Microsoft PIN linked to my email account doesnt work. I dont recall having a password for the computer and none of my usual ones work. I've tried resetting and logging out but computer boots back to safe mode everytime.

I tried to do the safe mode with networking but it wont work. The lan cable and router are fine I've plugged them into another device. Had this worked I bet the PIN would have been recognised.

I tried shift and restart for adv options such as command prompt, restore and reset etc. None work all ask for my password!

I put the windows disk into cd drive and booted with this hoping to repair it. However as soon as the disc loads it disables my mouse and keyboard!!!!!

I've never had anything like this and after 6 hours am utterly stuck. Any ideas or suggestions gratefully received.

Many thanks

Alex

Are you using a Windows 7 recovery disc? If so, you need Windows 10 media, Windows 7 and Ryzen chipsets won't work well together.

I'd try fully resetting the BIOS to default before doing anything else.

click start, type msconfig, run it, go to the boot tab, untick safe boot, click ok, restart

But he can't login :p

It was the win 7 disk as I got the upgrade... good point about compatibility. I've got a friend dropping me off a win 10 usb boot drive so I will try that. Thank you for the suggestions so far I will let you know how it goes.

I'd make a backup of your files while you can, or use Macrium Reflect to image your drives. I say this because last summer I had a similar problem where I couldn't get out of safe mode - the only thing that worked for me was to do a clean installation.

Maybe you will have more luck than me, but be warned.
