a friend of mine asked me to pick him up some ram for the computer in his works office. Just used for listening to the radio and printing mainly.

i used cpu-id and it said the ram was DDR pc2300 funny cause i've never heared of such ram.

the system is a Compaq 07E4H (P4 2.0Ghz,skt 478)

I can find no info on the web about it or the ram it uses (would DDR pc 2700 work ok)

any help would be great

I think that 07EH4 is the motherboard and not the name of the system.

If you can provide the name of the system we may have a better idea.

Nearest I can make out xpcpu is correct and it uses PC133 SDRAM and has 3 memory sockets.

Some Googling suggests the maximum is 3x512MB or 3x1GB.

How much you can fit as an upgrade depends on what's already fitted.

Right i had a look at the ram and it's definately pc2100 (184 pin) Only problem is i can get DDr3 cheaper than i can find this stuff a 2Gb kit is circa £60 WTF..... wondering if ebay would be my friend here and find it cheaper.

Will i be able to use pc2700 ram and run it at the lower speeds as that ram is much cheaper and easier to get. , the link to the actual pc is here http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11349_div/11349_div.html
