Hi guys ive got my i7 3770k cpu on stock speed and cooler.
With a z77 gigabyte mobo i think its d3h.
And im not happy with my temps.
Im getting like 42c idle and like 84 load on all cores.
I would love if someone could guide me how to undervolt the cpu
To get better temps.
As i have absolutly no idea what to do in bios.
Or what to change

Cant really afford much plus i dont fancy taking my pc apart
Which is why im asking.
Any help is appreciated

Find the voltage settings and simply lower the Vcore. Your manual will show how to navigate to voltage adjustment. I assume you must be using a stock cooler if you are getting such high temps at stock speed, in which case I agree with those above suggest to get an aftermarket cooler. They are not very expensive for the difference they can make- I have a £25 CM 212 Evo and it keeps my 3770k @ 4.5 GHz at around 30C idle and gets to just under 80C under IBT max stress, quite a big difference from a stock cooler for not a lot of money. Plus it will help lower noise levels.

Hmm i no it runs quite hot on stock cooling but..
Lol 84 on full load constant i thought was abit 2 high?

I've never used my CPU with the stock HSF so I can't really say whether that is normal at stock settings. What program were you using to stress? Those temps are safe still though- max safe temp is 105C. As before, you would benefit from an aftermarket CPU- even a relatively cheap one like my 212 Evo offers much better cooling than the stock HSF.

If using the stock heatsink/fan then yes 84'c sounds about right..

Spend £50-60 on a new CPU cooler and you'll find your load temps would drop by about 20-25'c.

@ the op,you can undervolt it quite easy if you set cpu voltage to normal and use a minus -dvid so maybe -0.010v and so on,maybe try a low llc setting too, then monitor temps/volts at load and adjust if need be ect

Lol ok was just worring about 84c on full load.
I am testing with prime 95.
Ok wazza im not 2 sure bout those bios options.
I think ive seen them tho
What does 0.010 do?

-0.010v will knock off 0.0100v from your CPU voltage=less heat, you have to set CPU v to normal to unlock dvid for adjustment

What are your temps like if you take the side of the case ?
That is a zero cost option.

Your Airflow might be bad in the case.

Under normal operation your CPU is highly unlikely to get to the sort of temperatures it sees in Prime95 anyway, so in that respect you've got more than enough headroom with regards to temperature :)

Cheers guys very helpfull.
I have my case opened always.
Maybe its possible i have bad airflow god knows lol.
Im gna try those bios options aswell

Just remember that other activities will never stress your PC as bad as Prime or other stress tests. You're just worrying too much :p.

I wouldnt worry bout it, most laptop cpus would dream of only reaching 84 degs :)

Saw my Turion II Ultra M620 nudge 101°C once :D

But yeah 84 is fine for a Prime95 temp with the stock cooler at stock settings. It won't get that hot under normal use.

if everyone agrees that your temps are normal with stock cooler then only option is to use a different one. If people think its a little high even with the stock cooler, maybe you need to reapply your thermal paste. If you have removed the stock cooler and put it back on you probably have air bubbles trapped between the cpu and cooler. Only way to sort is to remove the cooler, wipe the old thermal paste and reapply a new coat. Pea sized drop in the middle and once you put the cooler on, dont remove it again.
