I've just completed my first build of a PC and everything was running ok until I decided I should update to the latest NVidia drivers for my 6600GT (Gigabyte GV-NX66T256DE). It thinks it installed the drivers ok, but in the Device Manager I now have a load of unrecognised hardware including:

- Other PCI Bridge Device
- PCI Memory Controller
- SM Bus Controller

I followed the NVidia installation tips. I even tried uninstalling the latest and going back to the Gigabyte supplied version but still get the same problem. When the hardware wizard tries to find drivers (on CD, on hard drive or via windows update), it finds nothing. Can anyone help fix this?

Cheers.

sounds like you probably want to update your chipset drivers
if you have an nvidia chipset and you uninstalled the graphics drivers from the control panel I think it asks you which bits you want to keep (so it is possible to uninstall more than just the graphics drivers)

Try installing any drivers on the cd with nforce in the name (You havent said what motherboard you have so I don't know what version of nforce you will have)

Thanks mate, problem solved. I thought the chipset drivers were installed (they were last night) (Epox 9NPA+ Ultra), but it looks like removing the old NVidia drivers also removed the chipset drivers.
