So I been playing bfbc2 a while and I was enjoying well I try fraps and I only get 20-45 fps on 1650x1050 medium or high detail.

My system:

Asus P5QPL-AM Intel G41 (6 months old)
Intel core 2 cpu 6400 @ 2.13 Ghz
3x1gb crucail ballistix ram DDR 2 PC 6400 (2x1gb dual + 1gb....only 3 slots)
SApphire ATI radeon 5770 HD 1gb (6 months old)

So, what needs upgraded?

And what can I sell?

RAM:

..I have 4x1gb Crucial Ram ballistix tracer but only 3 slots.

Should I sell all 4x1gb and buy 2x4gb? What ram for my mobo?

CPU:

Which type for my mobo? this defo need upgraded right?

GPU:

I only bought this 6 months ago do I need to upgrade. It cost 100 quid. How much can I sell it for and what should I replace it with if neccassary?

Why are my fps so bad on BFBC is it due to my CPU as my GPU was ok I thought?

Cheers

Do you have a budget in mind?

Well it depends if I can sell my RAM and GPU that I have? ANd how much I can get?

I dont really wanna spend much more than 150 on gfx card but if I buy NOvember ill get maybe a 200 one now for 150 then?

CPU 50-100? less better

RAM- I think this cheap maybe 40-50 for quailty 2x4gb ram?

Possibly

Second hand Q6600 and overclock it

Have you seen the price of DDR2?

DDR2

Dont wanna buy 2nd hand stuff

DDR2 2x2gb= 60 quid?

Can I sell my DDR2 ram...4x1gb....3 sticks are only 2 months old?

Can I sell my GPU...I bought 6 months ago for 100RRP...It is still 100RRP....Mayeb I can sell for 75?

you cant ask for prices on second hand items untill u have access on members market

if u want prices check the auction site

what site?

i was just asking a rough idea and if possible?

I dont even know if people buy 2nd hand parts

I only want new parts

HOWEVER my GFX card and RAM are both less than 6 months old so as good as new IMO with warranty etc..

Ok looking at ebay I reckon I should get 100 quid at least for all ram and gfx card and cpu

gfx card- 50-75
ram- 20-40
cpu-20-45

Based on current ebay listings/bids.

So say I get 100. Id be willing to fork out maybe 300 for new cpu, gfx card and ram

60 quid ram..........http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/partspecs.aspx?IMODULE=BL2KIT25664AL80A&click=true

240

150 gfx card.........http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-028-HS http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-126-MS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1866

90 CPU.............http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-269-IN ?????

well I guess my budget is around that give or take?

But should I sell and buy now or wait til Oct/November,,,?? I play BFBC2 and get 25-45 fps on med-high...I dont mind, I still do well

ok i was just looking for myself at average used price for these components Im sure price is simailr via all sellers.

Regardless, back on topic? what should I buy and need for good perfoemacne in bf3?

well no doubt that bf3 will be cpu intensive therfor it will need a quad. so i would suggest selling all you stuff and moving onto a new amd setup with a phenom 2 quad (because core 2 quads are really hard to find and god damn expensive as is ddr2 ram)

so if you have a £300 budget i would suggest somthing like this

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5850 Extreme 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **OcUK Exclusive** £114.95
(£95.79) £114.95
(£95.79)
AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition "125W Edition" 3.20GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail £89.99
(£74.99) £89.99
(£74.99)
Asus M4A78LT-M 760G (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard £49.99
(£41.66) £49.99
(£41.66)
OCZ Gold 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Low-Voltage Dual Channel Kit (OCZ3G1333LV4GK) £29.99
(£24.99) £29.99
(£24.99)
Sub Total : £237.43
Shipping cost assumes delivery to UK Mainland with:
DPD Next Day Parcel
(This can be changed during checkout) Shipping : £9.50
VAT is being charged at 20.00% VAT : £49.39
Total : £296.32

and from selling your exsisting mobo and ram you might have a bit more cash to fork out for a 6870

+1 for the recommendation to move to a Phenom II X4. Hang on to your 5770 for the time being then upgrade the graphics card in November. The Sapphire Xtreme 5850 is a very good card but not IMO a worthy or cost effective upgrade to a 5770. By November time we may even see the release of the next generation of Radeon HD7000 series cards so prices of the 6000 cards will come down. BFBC2 is very cpu intensive and a quad core will be great for it.

If you get a motherboard capable of Crossfire then you could get a second 5770 (dependent on PSU).

Agree with all of the suggestions really. I'd definitely keep you GPU for another 6 months as Shadow suggested.

Options really are either:

1) Keep mobo and ram and upgrade to Core 2 Quad. Cost: £110 ish

2) Upgrade everything to Phenom x4 (new mobo, ram and CPU) Cost: 180 ish

woops my bad didnt read op correctly thought it said 5570 :P

edit :the phenom x4 955 is on sale for £83.99!!

Don't upgrade until nearer the time is the sensible option.

By October, Bulldozer will be out (?) and there might be new info on Keplar and Ivy Bridge.

I'd wait.
