Hi,

I tried to upgrade my Aspire laptop to windows 10 from windows 7 no when I switch it on I get a blue screen. Showing saying the boot configuration file has been missing some information.

I cannot press the F keys to get into the reformat windows mode and cannot do anything, any ideas please?

The lap top came with windows 7 and a partition to allow me to reformat and reinstall rather than an actual Windows DVD.

So I thought I wonder as I I have a Windows 7 DVD from another PC ill to install that version but it asks me what partition do I reformat to install it on it says the laptop has three partitions.
PQ SERVICE -15 GB
DISK 0 - PARTITION RESERVED 100MB
DISK 0 - PARTITION 3: MIKE 450.7 GB

Should I select the larger file MIKE, or will I cause damage as there is now three partitions probably one is Win 7 that came with lap top other I can only assume is win 10.

All help appreciated, if poss id rather not use another win 7 DVD and just get it to work past the boot error.

thanks for help

Just had a quick google.

PQ Service is your recovery partition.

Are you pressing ALT + F10?

You could try CTL ALT F8 and choose the RESTORE to factory defaults.

Apparently when you upgraded to W10, you may have overwriten the Acer MBR.

I got the info from here.

Hope this helps.

Thank you I was holding f4 the f8 trying all the f buttons to open restore but nothing worked. I'll try your suggestions when get back home. If I still cannot get it to work woukd installing Windows 7 on the large partition work? Or should I not risk it and try other options? Thanks for your help and tips.
