Hey guys I'm new to the forum and would like some help upgrading my current rig, U built it myself from scratch.
I built on a mediocre budget, but now I'm looking to upgrade a few components in the near future but want to get some advice on which ones first to make the most impact performance wise.

Here is my current build:

1. Processor - Intel Sandybridge i5-2500K Unlocked Core i5 Quad-Core Processor (3.30GHz, 6MB Cache, Socket 1155)

2.Motherboard - AsRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 Motherboard, Socket 1155, PCI-Express 3.0, DDR3, USB 3.0, HDMI, 7.1 HD Audio, ASRock Instant Boot

3.Memory (RAM) - Corsair CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B 16GB (4x4GB) 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance Blu Memory Four Module Kit

4.Hard drive(s) - Hitachi HDT721010SLA360 ATA Device (931 GB)

5.Graphics card(s) - Nvidia EVGA GF GTX 560Ti 448 FTW Graphics Card

6.Power supply (PSU) - CIT 750W ATX PC Power Supply

7.Case - CiT Vantage White - Limited Edition - Computer Gaming Case with Black Interior & Mesh 4 Fans (3 White LED), Card Reader

8. CD/DVDRW drive(s) - HL-DT-ST BDDVDRW CH10N ATA Device

9. Cooling - Corsair Hydro Series™ H50 Quiet CPU Cooler

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks :D

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

Please remove the competitor links and re-check the FAQ regards these.

Get rid of the psu and case. The psu is an absolute time bomb and the case isn't great atall.

Got a budget in mind? A GPU upgrade could be helpful.

Ok, what sort of PSU and case would you recommend?

I have no top end budget at the moment, the idea is to save and upgrade piece by piece.

Thanks for doing that :)

to add to rjcs spec, if you're not planning on xfire in the future you can save some money and get a lower watt psu.

a few examples

YOUR BASKET
1 x Seasonic G series 650w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £89.99
1 x Be Quiet Power Zone 650W '80 Plus Bronze' Fully Modular Power Supply £89.99
1 x Antec High Current Gamer 620W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £79.99
1 x BeQuiet Pure Power L8 630W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply - With 120mm Silent Wing Fan Built in £79.99

1 x BeQuiet Pure Power L8 530W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply - With 120mm Silent Wing Fan Built in £65.99
Total : £491.44 (includes shipping : £11.25).

or if you do plan on xfire then a few alternatives to the one rjc suggested(nothing wrong with the antec suggested, just nice to have choice ;) )

YOUR BASKET
1 x Seasonic G series 750w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £99.95
1 x Be Quiet Power Zone 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Fully Modular Power Supply £99.95
Total : £213.40 (includes shipping : £11.25).

if you can stretch your budget into the £300s for the graphics card then a non-reference 290(non x) will be your best bet, no final date as to when they'll be out but its anywhere from end of this month to sometime next year.

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI Radeon R9 280X Gaming Edition OC 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with BattleField 4 PC Game Included £239.99
1 x Seasonic G series 750w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £99.95
1 x BitFenix Ronin Tower Case - Black £69.95
1 x Corsair Hydro H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler *Manufacturer Refurbished Unit - 90 Day Guarantee £44.99
Total : £468.97 (includes shipping : £11.75).

The MSI has a black PCB so will tie in nicely with your mobo has a 3 year warranty too. The case can take a larger CLC should you want to add one. Modular PSUs make cable management so much easier and 750W is enough to run a pair of 280Xs (these are refined 7970 Ghz editions basically so you can Xfire with a 7970 or 280X)

All the best with it bud, we look forward to seeing what you choose :)

This may be a stupid question and I apologize if it is, but should I keep my current GPU and install the new Radeon in my second slot or just straight swap? Im not sure if they would work together? Especially with my current one being Nvidia.

Uninstall the nvidia drivers, swap over the graphics cards(take out old card, insert new card) then install the new drivers.

Download the latest catalyst drivers from the amd website before you start.
You might also need to run drive sweeper(Google it) to fully remove the nvidia drivers.

Ok people with your help this is the modifications I have purchased for my new rig, heading over to the OC shop tomorrow to pick it all up :)

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus Radeon R9 290 "Voltage Unlocked" 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £329.99
1 x Seasonic G series 750w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £109.99
1 x Corsair Hydro H110 280mm High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (CW-9060014-WW) £94.99
1 x BitFenix Ghost Silent Tower Case - Black £77.95
Total : £633.44 (includes shipping : £17.10).

I went with

1 x BitFenix Ghost Silent Tower Case - Black

due to the fact the recommended Ronin case was out of stock, this to me seemed a decent alternative.

well i would not of gone for the 290 reference design! i would have waited until they get the custom coolers in stock!
the reference are loud and hot and do not overclock very easily and i have seen people have black screen issues with them
