Hey guys, I was hoping for some help and advice!

I recently decided to upgrade my system from 2 x 2GB DDR2 RAM to 2 x 4GB DDR3 RAM. My mother board has two DDR2 slots and 2 DDR3 slots, so I thought it would be a simple replacement! Take the DDR2 out and install the DDR3, done and dusted.

Though when I take out the old DDR2 and insert the new DDR3, my PC wont boot up. The lights and fans show signs of life, coming on for honestly only about 1 second before it all cuts off again.

I originally thought it might be that I dont have enough power, so I disconnected some fans and my GPU, but it made no difference when turning it on.

Took the new DDR3 back out and put the old DDR2 in, PC works fine! :/

Im not too sure what to do? I can't even get it running to try set it to boost from different part of my machine. Im currently running it back on its DDR2 RAM, but any help would be muchly appreciated!

My system specs are as below!

650 W Corrsair PSU
AMD Phenom black edition 9850 Quad-Core 2.50GHz
2 x 2GB DDR2 RAM (wanting to upgrade to the DDR3 4GB sticks)
ASRock N68C-S UCC MoBo
AMD ATI 6800 Series GPU
Windows 7 64 bit

Thanks in advance!

It will never work whatever you do.

The origional phenoms don't support DDR3.

Ahh damn, wish I knew that sooner!

Now a new issue has developed xD

I re-set the bios by taking out the mobo battery and putting it back in again. Was getting the same turn on for a second issue with the DDR3, so giving up I installed the DDR2 RAM back in

Now when I start up my system, everything turns on, theres no beeps, all fans and lights are running and it sounds perfectly normal like It did, but nothing comes up on screen at all, and my keyboard and mouse have no power to them either :/

What have I done now? xD My guess would be either the mobo battery had drained, or the bios has gone. Which would mean flashing my mobo right? :/

Enter the BIOS and set it up as it was before. Maybe use the Default Settings option once in the BIOS. And don't listen to the first person on a forum who tells you to do something, always get the correct information before proceeding.
Try using the supported CPU list to see if your processor is supported.

Cant get into the BIOS cause absolutely nothing is coming on my screens.

I have my PC in the state it was before hand, everything that was orginally in teh machine in its working state is in. Now I power it on, everything in my case boots up as in the fans are all on and going steady, but nothing at all is coming up on my monitors. My keyboard and mouse arnt even coming on.

My PC stays on the entire time, not turning off or anything, just dont get anything on screen or to my USB devices, which makes me think the BIOS is gone!

Right, seemed to work it out (I think)

I tried just using one single stick of DDR2 2GB RAM in the first DDR2 slot, PC boots up fine and normal. Tried moving that stick into its twin slot to see if it would work. Didnt; same as before, PC would power on and stay on but got nothing on screen or to my USB devices.

So that means my mobo RAM bridge is screwed and I have a faulty RAM slot now :/

Just my luck! Wanting to upgrade to 8 GB, end up downgrading to 2! xD

Thanks for all the help anyway guys! :)
