Hi there,

My PC is proving rather sluggish as of late particularly when gaming - I'm wanting to upgrade my current setup to be able to play BF4 and other recent games at high end settings.

Current spec:
AMD Phenom X4 960T @ 3ghz
Asus Sabertooth 990FX
4GB DDR3
AMD 6850 @ 1gb

Understand theres a lot of room for improvement and it might be wise to completely start fresh with a new build, but if you guys could suggest a few upgrades to run at 1980x1080 it would be appreciated

Cheers

The board will happily take an 8320, so one of those is the best upgrade for low cost and is fine with a decent overclock for BF4 and recent games. The 6850 is out of date, you'll want the best card possible really - 280X minimum for high settings. You should also add another 4GB RAM.

Here's a suggestion for a big upgrade:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Sapphire Radeon R9 290 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with BattleField 4 PC Game Included £299.99
1 x AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail £110.99
1 x Patriot Viper "Sapphire Blue" 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C9 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit (PV38G186C9KBL) £59.99
Total : £480.56 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Sell your current RAM, and this includes BF4. You'd need a decent 550-600W PSU.

I've got a 750W OCZ PSU so I should manage with that.

Would it be worth going up to a 8350 or is there not much difference?

+Any ideas for a decent budget gaming case?

Will that Chip work in that MOBO im also having exactly the same query. I have 990fx with phenom 2 and 6950 2 gig.

My upgrade plan was water cooled pre-flashed 290

8350

SSD drive

I hope that helps bud
