All I know is that it has a 1.6ghz Intel pentium CPU and 4gb ram. It probably has integrated graphics.

It probably has a cheap low wattage PSU, IDE drives as well which are no longer supported really.

Sounds like all you are really going to "inherit" is the case by the time you finish upgrading the components

Agreed.

Sorry to say Patrick but I dont think the PC is upgradeable, your going to need a new one. We can spec you a cheap pc if you want? Gaming or non-gaming will the deciding factor on price.

Might be an idea to sell off the old PC for as much as poss via a popular auction site or local classifieds, then build a budget PC from separate parts after.

Ok I've been looking around and I might have found a build that's good.

CPU AMD Athlon II x4 641 £60

GPU XFX AMD Radeon HD 6670 1GB DDR3 £50

Motherboard Gigabyte GA-A55M-DS2 AMD a55 £42

Power Supply NOVA-TECH 500W ATX £16

Total Price:
£168~
Thoughts?

That should do it but its still cheap in my opinion, like I say I would not pay less than £50 for 500W. A good 430/450W would be better like this:

Since no offense but the PC you are being given is practically useless I would suggest putting aside some money and getting this:

Thanks for doing me a build! I only need a CPU, GPU, PSU, and Motherboard though as I will have the case dvd drive, hard drive and ram. I will be selling this on after.
Also, would it be possible to get a cheaper GPU and motherboard?
