HELP !!! (Urgent) 290x not being detected!

the very first gpu waterblock i installed, the card did not work and i thought i'd broke it, took it out, took block off, inspected, nothing really to see then put it back together and it worked, dont know what happened the first time...
 
Guarantee it's the motherboard! It's some incompatibility that arises with 290's especially when flashed with another bios.

I had exactly the same one before I switched over to a Maximus Extreme VI when I went trifire (for plx). Anyway prior to switching over I was flashing other bios roms on to my 290's to unlock them to 290x's (My old XFX ones which were rma'd not my current powercolor's). Anything but the stock rom would just display a black screen and refuse to work pretty much exactly like you have exhibited.

Long story short, put the cards in the new mobo and flashed the bios roms and they worked flawlessly.

I can't say for certain what it is about the Z87X-OC that causes it. I also tried the cards in my spare 990x and they worked!
 
Okay so spoke to the guys over the phone who build the cards and what not and they have issued a refund.

So got to get the card back and once they receive it I will get a refund which i can purchase another card with obviously that means i wont get my money till friday or new years but better then waiting for an RMA.

In the mean time I guess I will have to buy my replacement air cooled card and fit a water block myself.

I was thinking of buying this...

It is reference right guys? I only need a reference model so i can fit a waterblock myself when it arrives.

We have tried multiple fixes man every version of bios has not worked right from the ones provided stock with the board.

There is simply not one thing we have not done :(

Just noticed that you said the card doesn't work in another mobo? Then it sounds like it's a dead card.
 
Going to buy that while I wait for my refund on this 290x :)

God what a weekend - that combined with a deathly flu :(.

The machine was looking gawjus now I got to run with the 8800 in till the 780 arrives tommorow lol.

Pfft well now im goin to have to have this 780ti windforce in there without a block till theyve refunded me so i can buy the block i want its gonna look all ugly lol :(
 
About trying it in another machine:

Definitely worth a go if possible. They don't need a loop to put it into, it'll work fine without cooling long enough to try it out.
 
Nah going to send it back and get a refund ive already ordered the 780ti in its place.

Ive already tested it in another computer my friend had a z77 board we tested it on that and it didnt work either.

To be honest that was way too much hassle an end user should not have to go through that much hassle to get a card working block or not O_o.

Was pretty ridiculous lol.
