help! usb is playing up summat rotten!

hi guys,

got a right pain in the arse of a problem...

my usb connection seems to have become very unstable - basically when you plug something in (external hdd, ipod, etc), if you are lucky enough for it to connect, the connection wont last long...

i keep hearing the usb connection / disconnection sounds and it basically stops me putting anything on my external hdds or ipod

it is the same in all the ports (i have a hub and also the ones in the front of my case)

any ideas? i've tried reinstalling the chipset drivers from the mobo cd but no difference...

ahh please dont let the mobo be faulty, this is my fourth one since i built the new pc 2 months ago

i've looked on the dfi website but there are no specific usb drivers... are they packaged in with the chipset drivers?

if this isn't the problem, how do i check for "burnt" ports?

the problem is solved, and i feel obliged to post the solution for any other DFI Dark owners who are experiencing problems:

if you have a problem with higher power devices such as external hard drives, ipods, etc, specifically connection/disconnection problems, then the problem would seem to be the south bridge is not getting enough power...

solution: in the bios up the sb voltage from 1.5v to 1.6v

another heads up, after bumping this sb voltage, the usb problem sorted itself perfectly HOWEVER the computer became seemingly unstable (blue screens and stuff, which i have never seen on this subtle overclock which has been in place for 2 months)

can a 0.1 increase in SB voltage cause this?

(i think this all may be related and there may well be summat wrong with my mobo...)
