HELP USB KEYBOARD PROBLEM

Okay, so my USB 1.1 ports on my Mobo gave up a couple of days ago. so i went out and bought a 5 USB2.0 PCI card by Belkin. However, sometimes when i boot my computer (my keyboard is connected to the pci card) the keyboard has no power and so i cannot get into the BIOS.... i think its because the card is getting no power at boot up. However, as soon as it loads windows it works.

Can you get into the bios at any point with the USB keyboard connected to the PCI card? If not it would likely be because the motherboard isn't set to accept inputs from such a PCI card at that stage in the boot process, if it was a PCI Raid card for instance it might accept the input but I don't know about for USB.

Oh it works sometimes yes. But sometimes it doesnt work.

I'm not sure it works for all keyboards, but for a couple of quid you can get usb to ps/2 adaptors. That might solve the problem. But then again for the same price you can probably pick up an old ps/2 keyboard....

If it works sometimes then I have no idea really, misterPK might have just given you the best options in the circumstances.
