The problem actually began a few weeks ago, when the PC crashed very hard when playing BF4, Win 10 Blue screen, and then rebooted into a BIOS warning which said:

boot failure detected" - system has experienced a boot failure possibly due to incorrect configuration. Previous settings in the BIOS may not be compatible. with current hardware state.

current cpu speed : 3999Mhz
current bclk : 100.2mhz
current memory speed : 1333.63mhz

At the time I took PC apart and after some struggle got it working again, fresh WIN 10 install and all seems rosy.

Last night it hard crashed again playing BF4 and it rebooted back to the warning, so I reset the bios as it was suggesting. This morning it did the same thing off cold boot. so I reset the defaults to make sure that it had returned to normal and it booted. Next restart it came up with the same issues, and the following restart it wouldn't display anything on the monitor.

Since this point I've hard reset the CMOS on the motherboard, cant get a signal from either Onboard or the grx card now so can't even see if it is posting.

I've taken the PC apart and now have the mobo, CPU, 1 stick of RAM, USB keyboard and the VGA cable from the onboard. Nothing posting. There is power as the pc turns on and the CPU header fan I've got plugged in spins away. But the monitor says there is no signal.

I am pretty much at my wits end about what to do, and what has gone wrong.

I was running the RAM on its 2666Mhz XMP profile which and the CPU was overclock to 4.2Ghz however temps never went over 62 on the hardest of games. I've removed all OC's for safety, even the RAM and Im at the position above.... stuck.

I don't really have access to spare parts but I will assume that it is either CPU, Mobo, RAM or PSU issue given with it stripped its not working.

Part are:
i5 4690k
Gigabyte z97x-sli motherboard
Team Group Xtreme 2666Mhz RAM
SUperflower Golden Green 550W PSU

MSI GTX 970 - which im concerned is damaged but didn't show any fault
Powercolor HDX Soundcard

Cruicial MX100 SSD 128/256

Cooler - was https://www.overclockers.co.uk/raijintek-themis-direct-contact-cpu-cooler-hs-001-rt.html

but is now Corsair H100i GTX AIO as just got In Win 805 Case and the cooler didn't fit.

Any help would be much appreciated but I do think something has died, and unsure what the warranty would be... RAM says lifetime on it, but don't know about CPU etc. NO part is more than 15months old and all bought from Overclockers.

thanks
Nick

Guy in this post seems to have a similar problem - anyone think it would be the same issue?

thanks for the post - just tried it with a new PSU. First turn on it went to a screen to enter the bios but I hadn't plugged the keyboard in, so restarted and now it shows nothing.

Spoke to OC and they think its the motherboard - RMA time :(

well I thought as I have the rest of the weekend before I needed to send anything in, I would test a few bits an pieces. Low and behold at the moment it seems to be working, I've booted in and out of windows. did have a couple of issues coming out of the bios when I didn't save anything I picked up a couple of errors.

going to run a memory test on the RAM to see if that's ok, flash the Mobo bios incase that's corrupted and go from there. I'll prob reinstall Win10 as well to make sure its ok and windows hasn't been damaged at all.... while i'm not getting my hopes up it might be ok.

Any other tests I can put the system under... games are good generally but things to test the mobo and CPU for issues?
