Right, swapped the motherboard for another of the same. This time the fans light up and come on but the PC doesn't boot. CPU buggered aswell?

Update: changed CPU, still didnt boot. Then changed RAM and it booted. so the RAM is deffo buggered. Now... was the mobo buggered to start with?

Sounds me like both mobo and RAM. Perhaps a power surge due to a faulty PSU?

My advice would be to have all three things returned and checked.

Does that mean my HDD drive is buggered aswell :mad:

Or would a fresh install be ok?

All you can do at this stage is attempt to reinstall the OS, and hope for the best.

Sounds to me like a power surge, what psu have you got?

If its got crappy components in it then you may have had a vaultage peak and its knocked your stuff out. But try a new install of os etc first.

its a Seasonic S12 600W PSU. MY spec is in my sig...

Is there any chance of retrieving the data from my HDD using another computer if i assume it isnt broken?

No chance, the disk isnt even spinning! Is the no way of getting my data back? Ive lost all my work and the backups i have are out of date! Jus gonna have to get over it i suppose

Try the h/drive in a friends pc before resorting to wiping it.

Tried that, disk doesn't spin, PC doesn't recognize it!

Looks like ill be needing a few new parts then...
