Help video editing!

Can anyone recomend a suitable program to stitch two avi files together? I'm running ubuntu 8.10.

I just use cat then use mEncoder to rebuild the avi index.

cat file1.avi file2.avi > mashup.avi
mencoder -forceidx -oac copy -ovc copy mashup.avi -o final.avi

Takes just a few minutes and works well even on old, slow hardware.
