Hi guys

Iv just been testing out my new 2600K and when running prime95 i got this error that popped up

volt.jpg

What does this mean ? Im very wary of using my system at the moment.

Asus boards seem to do this for a odd second, I know its a totally diff board but my Crosshair iv reports 67 v running outta the 12v line for a millisecond and sets off the alarms, also had Core voltage at 116v reported before now :).
Id keep an eye on it as you never know but just letting you know off the little quirks asus seem to have sometimes.

Dave.

If it was really 16v i recon you would be seeing smoke or smeel things getting hot.

Go into the bios does it agree with AI suite?

I restarted and dropped from 4.7 to 4.6 and 12v is now 12.096v so looks ok. The weird thing is when i overclocked to 4..7 my graphics card sounded like it was about to take off lol it went full throttle for about 30sec then went back to normal. It only seems to do that at 4.7 and no other clock speed :/

It's measurement error. 16V would be immediately apparent without software.

As far as I know cpuz is the only program which has a semi-accurate stab at reporting voltages. Even then I wouldn't trust it over a multimeter.

It could possibly have been a very brief spike or an erroneous reading. Last night Asus AI warned me my 2500k cpu was at 112 centigrade whilst web browsing. The warning was brief and a one off. I checked, real temp hadn't recorded any such reading, my pc was running fine and all was well. Unless you get repeated warnings I reckon you could ignore that 16v (for now, anyway).

Tbh, ai suite is terrible, the only useful feature it has is the fan expert calibration setting, for PWM fan speed control.
