Hey,
Over the past few weeks I’ve been more and more tempted to buy a 20”+ wide screen monitor.
Ill be using the monitor mainly for gaming and web browsing and not willing to spend anything more than £400.
So I’ve looked into them and I cant decide which to go with. Either the Viewsonic VX2025wm or the NEC MultiSync® LCD20WGX2. Or could any of you suggest a different option – would be appreciated.
The main factor which will make my decision are 1:1 pixel mapping, forced 4:3 and stretched functions.
I’m really confused over this, I don’t seem to be able to get a clear idea over what the differences are. I seem to be getting mixed explanations, eg “1:1 is good”, “1:1 is bad” etc.
I’m mostly bothered about how my games, especially the older ones that don’t support 16:10, will look. I don’t want my games to appear in a small box in the centre of the screen – I assume forced 4:3 wouldn’t allow this to happen? Whereas stretched would stretch the image over the whole screen resulting in distortion? I don’t know.
Basically I really am confused over this and would be grateful if any of you could clear this up or me.
Cheers.
