hi a friend of mine has asked if i can upgrade is pc to an i5 system the problem is that he wants to keep his same case has he really likes it and matches all his other stuff, its a hp slim s5000 seriers s5565uk,there is not a lot of room indside so he will need somit like a media center motherbord,my only consern is that the cooler as standered on a i5 processor might not fit has anyone got any sugestions what bord and chip to buy, any i5 processor will be a big impovement to the standered amd processor thats in it,if he has to buy an other cooler thats silm line has anyone got any ideas thank you?:):)

Just been try to look at the motherboard size, it look like its a mini ITX board installed.

Come up with the spec below, but you will need to measure up the motherboard installed in the PC and check the screw holes ect against the ITX standard.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £167.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77N-WIFI Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard £98.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX) £35.99
Total : £313.76 (includes shipping : £9.00).

RJC, careful, I got caught out thinking the same with a s5565uk last year, it actually had a matx board.:o

A few people have come on asking on upgrading these, I looked at the PCI slots on the rear and looking at the manual.

Cheers for that :)
