Help wanted with choosing Wireless Card

A friend needs a good wireless card for online gaming. Apparently a wireless card is his only choice. Can anyone suggest a good wireless cards as I only use wire and don't/wouldn't use a wireless one myself.

He would like the cheapest choice but any suggestions welcome. If the cheapest choices aint anygood then I will tell him that, and give him the right recommendation.

What router does he have? It would be pointless of me to suggest a Wireless N card if he has an AC router.

his on virgin media, so he uses the virgin box

He will need another router also if he is on VM. His will drop connection and WAN constantly.

oh ok. I'll recommend him an Asus Router. Is that the only wireless card you recommend? because theres loads on there and i dont know much about them

I always recommend trying to match manufacturers/chipsets. If he goes for the N66U for example, I would buy the ASUS PCE-66U AC1750 PCIe adapter. I use an old DIR-655 and it works with everything I have.

I thought about the ASUS range because I read a lot of good reviews about them, not tottally up on my routers, Just never got on with netgears. Is it worth going for any above the N66U for Gaming. There will be sometimes upto 3 maybe 4 pcs gaming off it at once sometimes.
