guys

pretty unsure on what i need here so if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.. anyway

I have an ethernet cable running from my router through to my living room which i plug into the xbox, ps3 or home cinema reciever.

switching between the 360 etc is a pain (its pretty difficult to get behind the tv to unplug the ethernet cable from one console to another)

what im looking for is something that i could plug my ethernet cable into that will let me switch between the 360 etc without unplugging from one console to another all the time, is it called a network bridge, switch or something??

so any ideas on what i need?

cheers

Tbh, if you're asking that question then no, you don't need gigabit, 10/100 will be just fine.

However 5 port gigabit switches aren't even £15 these days, so they make sense if you can afford the cash. Pity ocuk hasn't appeared to order enough of their recent cheap ones, they're both out of stock :)

thanks everyone

turns out i might not need the switch, just plugged in an old dg834 into my living room and everything seems to be working ok.

I have found that i can only have 1 active connection at any time, would this be the same with a switch? Im curious as my home cinema provides sound from my tv and needs to be on constantly, meaning that to use a console, i first need to disconect the ethernet cable from the home cinema..

excuse my pait skills
