Firstly, the use of my system, I watch a lot of movies mainly via external hdd in mkv format, strictly 1080p and dts sound. In my spare time, I love to listen to music normally R&B/Hip Hop/Rap with a lot of beats/bass, I like to listen to it pretty loud and the Sony I mention below didn't do it for me.

I'm moving from the 'Sony BDV-E3100 1000W' All-In-One system, which is pretty crap I've had it for about a week and turned it up to full on the first day of use and it's pretty useless for me.

I firstly had my eyes set on the 'Yamaha YHT-199' system which is out of stock at the moment at my nearest retailer but it should be back soon, I can get that for £200 retail OR 1 month used one for £170.

My budget was £200 before, but now is £300 but I really do want something worth my money at that price, I know it's low.

I now have my eyes on a Yamaha RX-V375 AV for £150 and Tannoy SFX 5.1 Speakers for £150 so together £300. Now, is these two priced together at £300 better than the Yamaha YHT-199 priced at £200?

It's rather unfortunate I initally wanted the Yamaha RX-V473 AV which is the same price as the RX-V375 but it was missing the Microphone and Remote.

The RX-V375 and SFX 5.1 for £300 or YHT-199 for £200, which one is more worthy of my money?

Please advise, thanks in advance.

Below I've added some links for the equipment mentioned above, thanks.

YHT-199: YHT-199 - Home Theater Packages - Yamaha - UK and Ireland
Tannoy SFX 5.1: Tannoy - Residential - Summary
RX-V375: RX-V375 - AV Receivers/Amplifiers - Yamaha - UK and Ireland
RX-V473: RX-V473 - AV Receivers/Amplifiers - Yamaha - UK and Ireland

So, within my budget the Speakers available to me at Richer Sounds to be paired with the Yamaha RX-V375 AV are:

Yamaha NS-P40120)

Tannoy SFX 5.1150)

Boston Soundware XS SE180 slightly overbudget)

I phoned up RS today and asked him about the Yamaha NS-P40 against the Tannoy SFX 5.1, he said that the Tannoy's are better built, and are a heavier build and said Tannoy always.

That's why I completely phased out the NS-P40.

I'd just like to add these three in to the mix, maybe some will consider one of these packages all for under £300 for Speakers and AV.

Yamaha HTR-2866 & NS-PA40 5.1 Channel 600w 3D Home Cinema Receiver / Speaker Pac

Denon DHT1311 XP 3D Ready 5.1 Home Cinema System B-Stock

Onkyo HT-S5305 5.1-Channel 600w Home Cinema Receiver / Speaker Package - Black

If anything above is better than what I'm trying to put together, please say, thanks.

Go down to richer sounds (there is one near you) and get a demo, and then pick the best one for your needs and budget.

Thing is because I'm getting them on Clearance, hopefully there is a store with those items in store ready to demo.

But you was already given advice in your last thread, was there a need to start another thread on the same subject ?

The last thread was about the AV, which I've decided what I'm gonna get now, this is purely about the Speakers and what I can get for my money RS or elsewhere.

It was also about the speakers. Starting to get pretty frustrating answering the same question time and time again. The 473 doesn't have the required accessories, don't get it. The Tannoy's are better than the Yamaha speakers. The all in ones aren't as good as the separates. It's really that simple. The 375 and the Tannoys will serve you well.

Why? They aren't big speakers and he hasn't said how loud he plans on listening, he might also have a detached house.

I wouldn't have my system if I had an attached neighbour.

Exactly, these aren't even that big but it's the best my money can buy at the moment. These are considered budget by some people lol!

And, my house isn't detached, you guys making me feel bad ha ha, anyway it's not like I listen at crazy hours. I'm sure it won't disturb them.

Why not spend as much as you can on an AV amp and buy a pair of speakers from a range that sell full sets of AV Speakers like the Tannoy Mercury range.

You could get a pair of Mercury V1's for less than £100, when you can afford it add a TANNOY MERCURY VC, then add either a sub or another set of speakers, you could get another set of V1's for surround or buy some floor stand speakers (Mecrury V4) for the front and move the V1's to the rear.

In time you will have built up a full 5.1 system that will sound a lot better than what your looking at now.

already suggested that Attu but he only wants a 5.1.

Dinzi, these are very much budget options, I think you are missing the point here. This may seem like a lot of money to you but your options are seriously limited due to your budget. Along with everyone else we are trying to guide you towards a value for money offering with some futureproofing yet you continue to bring in other options that just are not viable. If you don't want to listen to our advice that's fine, but you really should be actually going in to Richer Sounds or somewhere to have a listen to whats on offer for the money you have to spend.

Go back and read the Op, he mentions loud, bass and turns it up to full.

Granted, he might be in a detached mansion on 20 acres but more then likely...

I got a deal on the RX-V500D Yamaha instead of RX-V375 so went with that instead, looked a tinny bit better.

And, they say that the Banana plugs are meant to be better than the other types.
