Right it used to have cold starts but not recently. If I used to start my pc up with my webcam plugged in it wouldn't start. And now when I have my optical bluray drive plugged in it won't start up loading windows. So I assumed it was the power supply. Replaced it yet i'm still have the same problem! So I switched the ram tryed 1 stick at a time no luck. Try a different wall socket with a different power lead no luck. I think I eliminated the power supply (by buying a new one :/) eliminated the ram (by switching the slots trying 1 stick at a time). So am I right im guessing my motherboard is screwed?

No errors messaging when working. Sorry I should have bveen more clear.

It will not boot if the blu ray drive or the webcam is plugged in. I have both unplugged now so I can use my pc.

No errors messages when it fails to load. Loads all the bios info etc then it gets to the point where it shows the windows 7 badge but that badge never arrives.

It sounds like your Motherboard. I would have thought PSU also but it must be the Motherboard at this stage. You have eliminated everything else.

I've been out of the pc game for ages. I'm running.

Intel E5200
2X2gig of OCZ Reaper HTC DDR2 ram
Asus P5K Pro
8800gt 512mb

It's a socket LGA775 - so what can I replace it with? Is this system soo old and rubbish now I should just upgrade the lot?

Wrong thread mate. I would hold out until next year when the new Intel chip's go on sale. In between times overclock the E5200 if you can. Im running an E8400 which is also SKT 775. Wait until 2011 before you upgrade. By then you will be able to buy the Sandybridge Chips :)

Ok. What motherboard can I get to tie me over so I can still watch Blurays? lol All I want is something stable, cheaper and that will run my current components no problem.

You shouldn't have to change your Motherboard to watch Blu-Rays. All you need is a decent Blu-Ray drive and your sorted. A decent Graphics card help's as well but not essential. A HDMI output is necessary to get the full effect............

*edit* as is a HDMI compliant TV / Monitor.

I had "issues" with a rig the other day. It was hanging just after post (single beep). After the long winded process of troubleshooting i too was wondering if it was a mobo fault. The problem ended up being the usb hub.

Not sure if you use one but i thought id add the anecdote incase it helped. Have you checked for new bios updates? check the descriptions to see if they might resolve the issue.

Good luck finding the fault or a stop gap mobo if needed

I think we've got our wires crossed here. My current PC has a Bluray drive - but I can't get my motherboard to work currently using that drive - not because it isn't compatible but theres a fault. I just need a cheap LGA775 motherboard right for my current components.

Cheers mate. Wish to god it was a USB Hub but I don't use one.

Me too mate me too. My point is that sometimes we can jump to conclusions when infact its such a minor fault (another hub was certainly cheaper than the mobo lol).

Have you tried assembling the rig out of the case for testing?

Well i've tried every other component on my other PC except the cpu & memory. So i'll memtest the ram tonight and see what it says.
