So I'm the bright one who left his Galaxy S7 in the taxi... in Quito, Ecuador! It's gone no hope of getting it back, along with photos etc of my trip so far. Damn! Also locked out of Gmail, dropbox, hotmail and the works. Pro tip... Don't lose your phone abroad when you don't have any other authorised devices with you!

Anyway, so now I need a replacement quick. Think I'll struggle finding a S7 out here (and on a brief look Ecuador looks more expensive for electronics than Oz or UK). I've looked at a few phones, but my Spanish is... not good. A lot of the phones seem to be Samsung J series which I know nothing about... I'm guessing a cheaper series?

So I really need a good phone for SatNav (GPS, compass etc) web browsing mainly. Large storage or SD expansion. I don't think performance really matters too much. Um anything else I can't think of!?

Any make will do, but cheap and available in Ecuador! I now have very limited internet access which is why I'm calling on the night of the OcUK phone gurus to help!

The J series is indeed a cheaper range. As a guide the J5 2016 retails around £179 here in the uk. They generally get good reviews so not a bad option in your circumstances although I don't think any of the J series have a compass.

Thanks, might try and grab a J5 then. Had a quick look at the A5pro which is better but way more expensive than even the S7 here :(. Also J7 is more expensive but not as good... not as recently updated I guess?

$260 is still a expensive unforeseen purchase for a far inferior phone :(

Are there any other decent cheaper brands that may be available out here which are decent enough? Just something get me through the next six months or so?
