I am looking to change my ISP. Moving from BT to BeThere. I have fulfilled my contract with BT. I think I need a code from BT to give to the new ISP. What is the name given to this code so I know what to ask for?

From my understanding there is no need to tell BT to disconnect me. Is it right that I just give BeThere the "magic code" and they deal with the rest. I assume that once I am receiving the service from BeThere I will not get any more bills from BT?

BT have been good to me, a very good service while with them, it's just a shame they don't offer what BeThere can.

Thanks guys!

Ah, thank you both. Hm, yes, this does appear to be in the wrong section. However, you guys have just given me the answers I was looking for. Great link by the way Elmer, thanks! Thank you also Beenom for your helpful reply.

Managed to get the code from the ISP, no names mentioned but it was like trying to pry blood from a stone. Trying to sell me their "unlimited broadband", read the FUP and find 40GB cap on the unlimited package! Cheeky!

heh, i went over to adsl24 three days ago and my gods is it nice to have broadband back again!

I am moving to that also. I am expecting speeds of 10 - 15 Mb/s (can't wait!) but I am unsure that the wireless bandwidth is good enough. I will be running 2 pc's on 802.11g 54Mbps. Is this eneough "headroom" for this spped of broadband as I have heard there is more data than just useable data that comes and goes.

One of the PC's will have max signal (same room) the other is down the hall and will have I suspect 2 / 5 bars signal in XP SP2's wireless manager. Any good tools for testing network speeds to make sure its hitting the full bandwidth?

A little update, I just tested the connection wired and wirelessly and received the same download speeds. All good...
