I've just bought Company of Heroes and Battlefield 2142. And I've tried just installing them and playing them online like all my other games, like BF2 and Steam based games, namingly CSS, DODS etc.

However, with these 2 games, they've decided to not work on me. So I read the manual and it told me that I should open some ports on my router's firewall (which is OFF BY THE WAY!!!) but I continued to http://192.168.2.1 anyway and tried to set it up.

However, its appears far from simple, 2 pages appear to the average user to do the same thing when you open thing, both relating to UCP and TCP ports. The manual says I need to open these ports:

In order to play Battlefield 2142 online, you must have the following ports open in your firewall.

TCP 443
TCP 17475
UDP 27900
UDP/TCP 29900
TCP 80
TCP 4711
UDP 27901
UDP 1500-4999
UDP/TCP 1024-1124
UDP 29900
UDP/TCP 27900
UDP 16567
UDP 55123-55125
UDP/TCP 18000
UDP/TCP 18300

However, I have no ieda what goes where, which is why I've come here for some advice. For the above, you give me an idea of what needs to go where on any of the pages. I've uploaded screenshots to my website:

Any helps would be greatly appreciated.

What ?

You don't need to open a bucket load of ports for BF2. a lot of those ports are to enable a server to operate behind a firewall. So long as you can make outgoing connectios you'll be fine. Try it, I bet you can connect to a BF2 server just fine.

You want the virtual servers section.

And to open TCP 443 for example, enter the last part of the IP address for your machine EG: 192.168.2.5, choose protocol type, in this case TCP, type port number 443 in both LAN & public port boxes, tick the enable box, then go 'set'. This should do it.

Check if it's open by going to http://www.whatsmyip.org/ports/ and typing the port number in top box, and click check port. Should say it's open!

Thanks,

what about the section where you hav "1024-1124"

Well that didnt work

I have absolutely no idea why it doesn't work tbh.

On BF2142, I'm still getting the message:

"Contact EA Account Server"

"Connection timed out, please try again later"

I'm guessing this is just me then?

i don't have any firewall software installed. Not even Windows firewall.

It baffles me completely.

Looks like I'll be having to get a new router then. Its given me grief before to be honest.

Whats the best value wireless & cable all-in-one router you can get atm? Do ADSL2+ routers work for normal ADSL lines?

googled ""F5D7630-4A" Firmware update" but none of the links provided a download link

Their website isn't very helpful either.

Looks like I'm guna have to buy another one. I read the ADSL guide on it. Apparently the firewall isn't really up to scratch. Even though I've disabled it, I'm still not having any luck.
