As title really, I have just got a new router, i'm following the instructions.

Plugged everything in and i'm supposed to type the IP into web browser address bar but it is just saying The Page Cannot be Displayed.

When I run through the Setup CD it says Router Not Found. Check the cables etc. I've checked all the cables, the Power, DSL and ethernet connection 1 lights are all on.

And I've frankly no idea how to proceed?

start > run > type cmd > press enter > type ipconfig > press enter

ping your default gateway to make sure your pc can communicate with the router and then if it can make sure your typing the default gateway into the browser.

If that fails come back on and ask for more help.

Okay, here's what ipconfig says

Ethernet adapter LAN

Connection-specific DNS Suffix:
IP Address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:

have you assigned an address statically ? (did you put this addess in yourself?). If so make it dynamically asign an address itself (take out the manual configuration so it gets an address from the router)

No I don't think so, how would I go about taking that out?

Found it, had to click TCP/IP Protocol and then Properties and it was assigning statically as I used to have my X-Box in there! I can get into the router now! Thanks for the help!

excellent glad you got the problem sorted! :D

Sorry I've broke it again. I connected my other PC via wi-fi card, worked okay.

I then attempted to change the computer name and/or workgroup on my original PC, restarted, it can't get on the Internet now or access the router settings page.

Just because you change the hostname of a computer it should not stop you from been able to access the internet.

Once again do a ipconfig /all (this time) and post your settings. Try pinging the gateway (ping defaultgateway address).

Hi, sorry about the delay, I work 5 - 10 backshift.

I've come home now and it appears to be working again but it is dreadfully slow and I haven't managed to get the router settings page to load, it keeps timing out.

The PC on wireless in the next room is working flawlessly however.

Here is what IPConfig said anyway:

take it ** doing this by wired. next step is jsut to shut everything down and reboot everything. Reset the router if your experiencing slowdowns.

Okay I shut down both PCs, reset the router, restart my wired PC, it says it is connected to the LAN on startup, I try to access the router settings page and it just hangs/times out.
